History:
Kobato is in a sense not alive, but also not dead. Due to a war between the spirit world and heaven that was over some angel Ioryogi fell in love with. During this war of sorts there appeared a crack or hole that separates the heaven and the human world and this ended up sending shock-waves from the battle in heaven upon the earth of the human world.
The person who had taken the full force of this shock-wave was a young girl who was a mere human from the human world, the girl nearly dying because of this quarrel between the two. The angel, the one the war was over, in exchange for her own life stopped the girl's time therefore leaving her in what is known as an ambiguous state, where she isn't truly alive, but at the same time you are not truly dead. {This wasn't mentioned until many chapters after I picked her up from but it explains why she is the way she is.}
With her memories of that time and before gone the girl named Kobato appeared back in the human world with only a suitcase, umbrella and a stuffed toy dog that she called Ioryogi. Upon getting to the place the first thing she had to do was show that she had common sense and could handle every day situations as normal people would be able to. The first thing that she did was stay at a children's playground within a tunnel type of play equipment to be able to talk to Ioryogi and when asked what her excuse was because they could have secret conversations and it seemed fun. This ended up him flaming her.
After a discussion, talking about her wish was and what she needed to do, to able to get that wish granted, she was given her first task since they were in a park he told her to behave like someone would normally ct in a park in the early hours of the morning. Understanding the basic orders, or what she thought she understood she went to the garbage can and get out an old newspaper and laid down on a near by bench, laying down with the used newspaper over her. Asking how that was it once again ended with him flaming her as she had got what he meant completely wrong.
Her next task was to see how Kobato would handle taking out the trash, or to show him how people would do it normally after a woman had handed over her trash to her, due to the fact the woman was going to miss the bus and didn't have time. She managed to be able to find where people take there trash out, but due to the crows that were hungry and eyeing the trash that was there as well as the one she had in her arms and also because of the sign with all the trashing saying about trying to leave as little trash as possible, Kobato ended up not throwing the trash out like a normal person would instead, she opened her trash and held it out for the crows to have, which ended up the crows come flying at her.
Afterwards they ended up back at the park to which Kobato explained to Ioryogi why she did what she did, the reason for this being that the crows wanted the garbage and about the fact the sign had said about throwing out less garbage, which is Kobato's case meant if you give the crows the garbage, then you will have less to throw out. Once again this ended up Kobato getting flamed for the third time and getting the new nickname of Dobato which means little pigeon and also getting no points at all due to the lack she had on both tests lacked the common sense that was needed. Kobato still determined said that she would try very hard for the next time.
Upon a completely different day she gets a new task to do, to prove that she had some sort of common sense in her when it came to food. She was given this task when they spotted a stall while they were walking and they needed help, so Kobato offered to help out for them. It was going pretty well, no accidents this time until she was asked to make nabe by a customer. Since she didn't know how to do it, she either did it in the wrong order or added ingredients that should even be in a nabe from milk to chocolate.
The result looked awful as no one would want to eat it, or as Ioyogi said 'It might be what hell looks like.' But the customer, who was brave enough, tried it and the ending of it was that he actually liked it, even though it looked so horrible and more people started to try it and agreed. This made Kobato quite happy that, even though it was an accident it turned out well and she didn't make anyone sick.
After the work she did, she got a score of zero for common sense of the nabe, but because it did end up well she at least got some points this time. Happy that she was one step closer to being able to get her flask says that she is going to try even harder next time. During the course of a few days she was given little tasks with one being to understand and show what people do at Christmas, which she got completely wrong at the beginning when she tried to ask a gentleman with his girlfriend if he wanted to stay with her at a hotel for the night. From that misunderstanding she ended up selling Christmas cakes and got one herself as payment for working. When she was walking home she saw someone who had missed their chance to buy a cake for there son, and in the end, Kobato gave her the one she had, thus showing that she had an understanding of what Christmas was and thus getting more points towards getting what she needed to be able to start healing hearts to grant the wish she wants granted.
More little tasks were given to her and each had their own problems, but she always managed to get by it and eventually got a glass flask that she needed to be able to start her real task of collecting people's healed hearts that take on the form of candies within it.
Of course the first thing she has to do is actually have a place to live in and not live in a child's playground since people would find that a bit odd. So she found a place that was run by a woman named Chitose Mihara who kindly showed her to the room that she was going to be staying at during her time there. But while she was being shown to her room she left Ioryogi outside while she went inside to see her new place, which after a while and trying to stay hidden he had managed to get back only to yell at her for leaving him behind.
The day afterwards was the start of her new task of being able to heal the hearts of those that need healing, but because of the way she went about it which was to just randomly walk up to anyone and ask if they are suffering or if they wanted healing people thought she had meant something rude instead of what she actually meant in the way of helping them. After some hours passed and still could not get nowhere an old man had come up to her and mentioned the fact that she had been asking people if they wanted healing and asked just how much. Kobato being completely clueless did not understand what the old man really wanted and said it didn't cost anything she just wanted to heal people so the old man agreed along the way of say you can heal me in all sorts of ways.
Kobato was about to go with the old man when Ioryogi flamed the man away from her and had to explain to her that he didn't want his heart healing, he wanted his crotch healed as in sexual favors, but without having to say it out loud. The man who was quite annoyed at being hit away grabbed her by the arm asking if this was a set up and went to hit her when a guy got in the way.
After the guy knocked him away he spoke to Kobato saying that if she wanted to do something like that to go do it somewhere else. Since Kobato didn't understand what prostitution was she didn't understand what he was on about until a little bit later when asking Ioryogi about what it meant.

A woman came and helped her out, she was the owner of the sheet that hit her in the first place and on noticing that the woman might need her heart healing and after things were explain Kobato asked if she could help out with the kindergarten that they were standing in front of.
On entering the kindergarten the woman introduced herself as Sayaka Okiura, this was after Kobato introduced herself of course. Just after the introduction someone interrupted saying something about hiring help from a weirdo like that. The guy turned out to be the same guy who she had met before, the one who hit the old man. Both him and Kobato reacted similar when asked if they were friend. To which they both said 'Hardly' a way of saying no. Sayaka soon introduced him as Kiyokazu Fujimoto and that they will be working together from then on and that she believes that Kobato doesn't seem to be a bad person at all.
Kobato in the end ended up working as a helper in the nursery and was told by Fujimoto that he would be keeping an eye on her saying that she can't fool him. During the night Kobato thinks that she finally has someone that she can try to heal and that she can try her best to be able to help them.
Personality:
Kobato is kind of a klutz and tends to do something ridiculously stupid like putting chocolate in nabe. Tripping over a lot is her main problem, and it’s usually over nothing. Or, you know, air. She may be a big klutz and unintentionally cause trouble, but she always has a heart as big as anything, always helping others with their problems. She does this not just because she needs to, but because she genuinely wants to. Her intentions are pure and good, and the only thing shady about her is the brim of her hats, which hide something underneath.
To her, suffering makes her sad, and it deeply upsets her to see anyone else be upset or even get hurt. She'll even step in or step in front of someone if she has to, just to defend them. She may look like a girl who if threatened would back off, but if a friend was in trouble she would go to their aid. Fragile looking does not mean that she would behave as such. She will stand up for those who need someone in their corner, and is truly devoted to ease the pain and heal those broken hearts.
She's pretty naive when it comes to things, since she has no memories of what had happened to her, and her innocence is what really makes her endearing. All she knows is there is a place she wants to go, and to do that she has to fill a flask up with no-longer-broken hearts. Anything else seems to be new and unusual for her. It’s not really stupidity to blame when it comes to not understanding simple things like what to say to people or what people do on certain days of the year; it’s more so lack of experience, and a wee bit of cluelessness. She can learn, but it just takes time.
Her outlook on things is very positive. Super Optimist to the rescue~ If one has a negative view, she won't see it like that. The only things visible to her are the innate goodness, and the tragedies that break people and their hearts, really. She always tries her best, but it always ends up going wrong, which annoys Ioryogi. But these actions are ones that are always heartfelt and sincere, as she means what she says, and tries proving that in her words and actions as well.
She is also a kind girl, friendly to everyone she meets, although if you do keep trying to insult her in one way or another, or just generally picking on her for various things, doesn't mean she won't take it with a pinch of salt. Sure, she'll just pout for a moment to two, but she would at least have something to say about it.
Third-Person Sample:
Kobato wasn't so sure what she was doing at all. This was all so new to her after all. With staff in hand she looked towards the monster that was currently in front of her and about to attack. She had no way to attack right now and staring it down was simply doing nothing. All that was left was to beat it with her staff and hope that does something.
"Okay... I can do this" She muttered to herself, gripping the staff tightly as she soon went to hit it on it's head and... nothing absolutely nothing to it, but not before making the young girl seem rather guilty about what she had just done.
"I'm sorry mister monster" she said going to bow to it, but it wasn't long before it had a chance to attack back, knocking her towards the ground and making her land on her behind.
"I'm sorry..." he muttered to herself as her free hand moved to rub where it hurt before slowly standing up again. Okay, it was mad and she knew it was mad. She wondered who could be more mad this monster in front of her or Ioryogi-san back home. She nearly shivered at the thought of what that blue stuffed dog would do if she had done that to him, but unlike him this monster couldn't speak and didn't seem to have any intent of helping her at all.
Once she was firmly back on her feet she had started to wonder what she could do next and how would she be able to defeat this monster? After all her reason for taking it on in the first place was to help someone and in term maybe find a way to help. But it seems fighting was defiantly not going to be the case.
After a minute or two of thinking, the monster had started to charge again causing the young girl to quickly decide that right now was not a good time to try and instead to run. So turning on her heels she started to run as the creature charged on after her.
"I'm sorry for hitting you! Please stop chasing me?!" Kobato said trying her best to keep on ahead and to not get hit again. Maybe this job was not going to be easy afterall.

Kobato in the end ended up working as a helper in the nursery and was told by Fujimoto that he would be keeping an eye on her saying that she can't fool him. During the night Kobato thinks that she finally has someone that she can try to heal and that she can try her best to be able to help them.

Kobato is kind of a klutz and tends to do something ridiculously stupid like putting chocolate in nabe. Tripping over a lot is her main problem, and it’s usually over nothing. Or, you know, air. She may be a big klutz and unintentionally cause trouble, but she always has a heart as big as anything, always helping others with their problems. She does this not just because she needs to, but because she genuinely wants to. Her intentions are pure and good, and the only thing shady about her is the brim of her hats, which hide something underneath.
To her, suffering makes her sad, and it deeply upsets her to see anyone else be upset or even get hurt. She'll even step in or step in front of someone if she has to, just to defend them. She may look like a girl who if threatened would back off, but if a friend was in trouble she would go to their aid. Fragile looking does not mean that she would behave as such. She will stand up for those who need someone in their corner, and is truly devoted to ease the pain and heal those broken hearts.
She's pretty naive when it comes to things, since she has no memories of what had happened to her, and her innocence is what really makes her endearing. All she knows is there is a place she wants to go, and to do that she has to fill a flask up with no-longer-broken hearts. Anything else seems to be new and unusual for her. It’s not really stupidity to blame when it comes to not understanding simple things like what to say to people or what people do on certain days of the year; it’s more so lack of experience, and a wee bit of cluelessness. She can learn, but it just takes time.
Her outlook on things is very positive. Super Optimist to the rescue~ If one has a negative view, she won't see it like that. The only things visible to her are the innate goodness, and the tragedies that break people and their hearts, really. She always tries her best, but it always ends up going wrong, which annoys Ioryogi. But these actions are ones that are always heartfelt and sincere, as she means what she says, and tries proving that in her words and actions as well.
She is also a kind girl, friendly to everyone she meets, although if you do keep trying to insult her in one way or another, or just generally picking on her for various things, doesn't mean she won't take it with a pinch of salt. Sure, she'll just pout for a moment to two, but she would at least have something to say about it.

Kobato wasn't so sure what she was doing at all. This was all so new to her after all. With staff in hand she looked towards the monster that was currently in front of her and about to attack. She had no way to attack right now and staring it down was simply doing nothing. All that was left was to beat it with her staff and hope that does something.
"Okay... I can do this" She muttered to herself, gripping the staff tightly as she soon went to hit it on it's head and... nothing absolutely nothing to it, but not before making the young girl seem rather guilty about what she had just done.
"I'm sorry mister monster" she said going to bow to it, but it wasn't long before it had a chance to attack back, knocking her towards the ground and making her land on her behind.
"I'm sorry..." he muttered to herself as her free hand moved to rub where it hurt before slowly standing up again. Okay, it was mad and she knew it was mad. She wondered who could be more mad this monster in front of her or Ioryogi-san back home. She nearly shivered at the thought of what that blue stuffed dog would do if she had done that to him, but unlike him this monster couldn't speak and didn't seem to have any intent of helping her at all.
Once she was firmly back on her feet she had started to wonder what she could do next and how would she be able to defeat this monster? After all her reason for taking it on in the first place was to help someone and in term maybe find a way to help. But it seems fighting was defiantly not going to be the case.
After a minute or two of thinking, the monster had started to charge again causing the young girl to quickly decide that right now was not a good time to try and instead to run. So turning on her heels she started to run as the creature charged on after her.
"I'm sorry for hitting you! Please stop chasing me?!" Kobato said trying her best to keep on ahead and to not get hit again. Maybe this job was not going to be easy afterall.

[She gathers a bunch of different ingredients, some you would think wouldn't go together before she tipped them into the pan and started to mix. The look inside is questionable.]
What else does it need? I put in the right ingredients, but it still doesn't look right. Oh! I know!
[She wonders off before returning with coffee beans as she tips the whole load into the mixture.]
I'm sure that they will enjoy this very much. it's nice a healthy as people say we all need to eat healthy, or else we might get ill.
[She continues to stir it for a moment before looking at it, making a face.]
Ummm, can anyone tell me if this looks right, I thought I had it figured out, but I still think something is missing.

Kobato was happy with helping around, it was something she had been determined to do since the beginning, though she had a feeling it was for a reason, but that reason escaped her mind once again as she went about carrying a large collection of plates to take to the kitchen in order for them to be washed. She smiled as she looked around at the various others, though they did not take her optimism as well as most people would. Instead of smiles and waves of hello, she instead got dirty looks among other things.
With her smile still on her face, she was not paying much attention to her surroundings, instead she was thinking about something completely different as soon, she tripped over a broom that was on the floor, left by one worker. Kobato went flying, the various plates and bowls flying everything and hitting various surfaces, shattering into many pieces. She bolted right up, the panic now showing through as she rushed to start and pick up every last piece of broken plates she could.
"I'm sorry! I am sorry, I tripped. It was an accident."
Picking up another couple of pieces of china she hurried with putting them in a neat pile, or at least trying to attempt to put the pieces back together without the glue or anything to hold it together.
"I can do this" She said loudly as she started to stand up, picking up the pieces that she did have before starting to walk again, this time more determined than before to get the job done, no matter how much common sense she lacked.
